Help Bring the Buzz Back to Your Garden

Did you know that flying insect numbers have fallen by around 60% since 2004, and the UK has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows since the 1930s? These alarming declines threaten not only our wildlife but also our food supply, with nearly 90% of flowering plants and 75% of global food crops relying on pollinators.

The good news is that our gardens can make a real difference. In fact, UK gardens cover more than four times the area of our nature reserves combined, making them a powerful force for conservation.

Simple actions such as planting nectar-rich flowers, reducing mowing, avoiding pesticides, leaving areas a little wilder, and providing fresh water can transform your garden into a haven for bees, butterflies, moths, hoverflies, and other beneficial insects.

With this in mind we have created what should bee the perfect Hydration Station for Bee’s and pollinators. The reasons - Bees fly fast, often at high altitudes, so their eyes are unable to pick out the undefined edges of bodies of water. They detect water by smell using special receptors located in their antennae and legs. They are more attracted to the odour of "dirty" or nutrient rich water such as wet soil, moss, algae or decomposing vegetation. This nutrient rich water provides bees and other pollinators with salts and minerals beneficial to their health. Ferrous is a particularly important nutrient for bees. Did you know that Rust becomes Ferrous: If you have a standing rusty water container, the iron in that rust will continually dissolve back into the water as ferrous iron. Bees will not land on an open body of water, they need to feel safe as they are vulnerable to predation and drowning when they drink.  They need a shallow dish or tray with  safe landing platforms so they don't get wet or fall in. In particular honeybees need a lot of water and have special water collecting bees. They collect water in their crops, transport it back to the hive and pass it to water receiving bees. Many bees will drown trying to drink from deep water.

Our handcrafted metal pollinator collection celebrates these remarkable creatures while helping to raise awareness of their importance. Whether you have a large garden, a small courtyard, or just a few pots on a balcony, every space can help create a network of habitats that supports pollinators and strengthens nature.

Together, we can help bring the buzz back to our gardens!

Height 60mm

Drinking area 150mm

How to use our hydration stations, place them amongst your plants, preferably where bees will be gathering nectar and pollen. Give the hydration stations some shade, so the water doesn’t get to hot and to minimise evaporation. Remove the lid, place in your Moss, Algae, decomposing vegetation or soil, this will attract them - remember it needs to be chemical free and then top up with water.
